What does an estate cleanout involve?
An estate cleanout is a full-property clear-out. You or the family decide what stays, and we remove everything else. That includes furniture, clothing, kitchen goods, books, old paperwork you have already sorted, tools, yard equipment and whatever is stored in closets and crawl spaces. Large items like fridges and chest freezers go out with the rest of the load.
We work room by room. Anything you mark as a keepsake stays put. If we find photos, letters, cash or jewelry tucked in a drawer or a coat pocket, we stop and set it aside for you. Usable furniture and household goods go to local charities when they can take them. At the end we sweep each room so the house is ready for a realtor or the next tenant.
When do families need an estate cleanout?

- A loved one is moving to assisted living or in with family and cannot take much.
- You live out of town and cannot spend weeks here sorting a house.

Why do estate cleanouts take so much work?
Estate cleanouts are big jobs because older homeowners here tend to stay in one house for a long time. About one in five people in town is 65 or older, and many have lived in the same place for 30 or 40 years. Over that time, basements and spare bedrooms fill up with things that were never sorted. Many local homes were built around 1980 or earlier, often with full basements and a detached garage or shop, and those spaces hold the most. On top of the physical work, family members are usually grieving and short on time, which makes it hard to make decisions about every item alone.

An estate sale can make sense when the home holds antiques or quality furniture that people will pay for. It adds a few weeks to the timeline. If most items have little resale value, or the house needs to be empty for a closing soon, a direct cleanout is faster and less stressful. Many families do both: they hold a short sale, then have us clear what is left over the following week.

Do I need to be there during the estate cleanout?
No, though it helps to be there at the start. Many executors live out of state, so they walk through with us on a video call to mark what stays, then let us finish the estate cleanout on our own. We send photos when the house is empty.
What happens to things that could be donated?
Clean, usable furniture and household goods go to local charity thrift stores when they have room. If the family wants items to go to a specific church or charity, tell us and we will deliver them there when possible.
How long does an estate cleanout take?
Most single-family homes take one to two days once sorting decisions are made. Homes with full basements or packed outbuildings can take longer. We give you a timeline with the estimate.
Can you clean out the garage and shop too?
Yes. The estate cleanout covers the whole property, including the workshop or garage and any sheds out back. We do not take hazardous materials like old fuel or pesticides, but we can tell you where those go.
